- Get Your Water Heater Checked – When it comes to maintaining your water heater, annual maintenance is absolutely crucial to extending its lifespan. On average, most water heaters can last anywhere from eight to twelve years. But, water heater flushes can increase the system’s efficiency and even save you money on your utility bills this season. That’s why it’s important to go ahead and schedule a service appointment to ensure that your water heater is working at its best to keep you warm all throughout the colder months.
- Get Your Sewer System Checked – We’re now entering the time of year when sewer systems are most overworked (i.e. fall and winter). It’s a good idea to go ahead and schedule a routine check, and have preventive maintenance completed. Our team of experts can assist in this check.
- Store Garden Hoses – If you want to ensure that your garden hose stays intact through the winter, you’ll need to remove, drain and properly store it until the seasons warm again. Once you disconnect it, drain the water completely before placing it in a safe area in your home where it won’t be exposed to freezing temperatures. Remember, if any water is left inside, it can freeze, causing the hose to expand and break.
- Turn Off the Hose Bibb – One of the most important things you need to do to ready your plumbing for the change in season is turn off your hose bibb as well as the inside water supply line. If the bibb showed any signs of leaking during the summer, look into investing in a frost-proof hose bibb before it gets too cold. If this isn’t properly shut off, water can freeze in your supply line, causing your pipes to burst.
