Your Kitchen Remodel: Why Two Sinks Are Better Than One

Water Running Out of Kitchen Sink

If you’re thinking about undertaking a kitchen remodel, the first thing that you should know is that it is a major commitment.  However, it can be well worth the immense effort, expense, and time spent once you’re cooking and entertaining with joy and ease. Though it may seem like a small thing, new appliances and countertops can really transform the feel of your kitchen.  You can even improve the entire flow of the room and your cooking experience with a simple, new layout.

Of course, there might be one perk that you’ve overlooked that could really elevate your kitchen experience to a whole new level – a second kitchen sink!  A seemingly in-extravagant improvement, perhaps, but installing a second sink can give you the space and functionality that you need most. Here’s why:

Two Kitchen Sinks Are Better Than One

Anyone who spends a lot of time cooking and cleaning in their kitchen understands the necessity of the clean-as-you-go approach.  Of course, we all have hectic lives, and this just isn’t always realistic. So, some tasks just need to wait until a more appropriate time, like after a meal.  But, if all of your dirty dishes are going into your only kitchen sink, do you even have room to meal prep? Where are you going to wash all of those fruits and vegetables, drain your pasta, etc.?

Well, this is where two sinks would really come in handy!  Thus, you need one for the grub, and one for the scrub. With a second sink, you’ll always have a place to do both.  The good news here is that if you’re planning a kitchen renovation, you can choose the optimal place to install both sinks to best work with your kitchen workflow.  For example, maybe you like to do meal prep on your kitchen island closer your stove, so you might install the sink there. That way your dirty dishes can soak in the other sink closer to your cabinets, dishwasher and cleanup area.

Having two sinks could make your life so much easier!  Plus, if you tend to have more than one person working in the kitchen at a time, say other family members, then adding a second sink can go far when it comes to avoiding accidental collisions.  Everyone will have their own space to work.

Location, Location, Location

When installing a second sink, make sure that you put it in the right place for you, and remember that your sinks don’t have to be matching; they can be drastically different if it suits your need and preference.  Opt for something that will be functional for you. For example, if you work with a lot of large pots and pans, you might want to go with a deeper, wider dish sink to make cleaning them easier. On the other hand, you might not need such a large prep sink.  For this, you could go with something smaller, which would also open up more counter space.

A second sink might just be the feature your kitchen has been missing all along, and it’s one that we know you’ll wish you always had once installed. So, before you take on that kitchen renovation, consider this small upgrade, and fall in love with your kitchen all over again!
